YOUR WEDDING IS NOT A VEGETABLE SOUK

Every season has its theme. This year, apparently, it's produce.
I have photographed lemons, Chilis, tomatoes but as decoration not as whole wedding themes.
Last summer a bride sent me a mood board and I honestly thought she'd forwarded her mother's shopping list by mistake.
Habibi. That's not a wedding. That's Tuesday morning in the souk.
And I get it, you saw the lemons on Pinterest and they were gorgeous. In
Italy. On a cliff. In 2019. At somebody else's wedding.
Here's what nobody tells you: we shoot a lot of weddings a year, and in the
edit, half of them look like the same wedding.
When your photos could belong to any of six other couples, the theme
worked beautifully for Pinterest. Not for you.
So my only rule now, and I say it with love: bring me something that's yours.
The song your dad murders at every family lunch.
The exact green of your teta's living room.
The fact that you two met arguing over Jabbour vs. Malak el Tawouk
that's not a joke, that's a centerpiece, that's an entire zaffe entrance.
In twenty years nobody is going to say "remember the lemons."
They'll say "remember that shawarma wedding??"
Give me that. I'll photograph it all night.
And please... no batata. I'm begging you.
